How To Play This Game of Tag: List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 facts about yourself. Tag people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
3 Joys
1. My family - Nothing is better than spending time with family. The kids have been so much fun this summer. I just want to keep playing and never go back to a schedule and structure.
2. The gospel of Jesus Christ- All I can say is that my life would be a wreck without it. I truly would be falling apart at the seams.
3. Sunny Days - Oh how I have loved this summer in Utah, California and now Oregon. I love the sun. Now just stay that way year round Oregon.
3 Fears
1. Something tragic happening to my kids. I don't even want to go there.
2. Losing Dustin (One time I couldn't find him at the store).
3. Offending someone and not knowing it. I often speak without thinking, and then don't register what I might have said. Sorry to anyone I may have done this to. I would never intentionally do this to anyone.
3 Goals
1. To read my scriptures daily.
2. To get the office cleaned and everything filed. Which is so hard to do when the weather is so nice outside.
3. To get all the 6 ft weeds pulled in our back yard before the fall begins.
3 Current Obsessions/Collections
1. Blogging/Email - Have to check it or add to it at least once a day, usually more.
2. Blogging - Might have to make it a goal to quit, but it is my only form of journaling/scrapbooking.
3. Blogging - I really should just allow it once a week, but probably won't.
3 Facts About Myself
1. I worry about everything that I have no control over. I want it fixed at 3 in the morning when I wake up worring about it. Then can't go back to sleep because I am worring about it and want it fixed, even though it ususally can't be.
2. I would rather drink anything before water. Crystal light, fruit water, and especially Diet Coke - but I stopped drinking soda on Jan. 1. I think I am just lazy and want to grab something out of the fridge and not fill up a glass.
3. I get frustrated with Jonah for all of his behaviors that are inherited from me. (Seeing the negative not positive, being loud, doesn't stop talking, interrupts conversations, etc. :))
I am tagging Lindsay K., Michelle R., and Steph T.

Splitting ways. . . for tonight
Today Dustin took Jonah up to Scout Camp. I told him that Jonah was too young but he likes to break the rules. Not really, but he doesn't have a lot of time with the kids so he wanted to use some of it to be with Jonah.
Anyway I took Savannah and Jacob to the Hillsboro Track and Field event again and they did great. They both got third place in the hurdles, and got participation ribbons for the other events. We then went shopping and finally had dinner at Costa Vida a few minutes ago. It was their choice. I guess they can't get enough of the pork and tortillas because they had already had it once this week. Now time for Jacob's bedtime and Savannah and I are going to watch Savannah Smiles for her first time. :) No pictures because Dustin has the camera.

Where's the Locks?
Jacob got his first haircut last week. As one friend said "He kind of has that Gene Wilder look going on." In other words he has some great old man hair. I asked the lady to trim his hair, because I still wanted the curls but they just didn't need to be 5 inches long. Anyhow she cut them all off. I was sad, but the new look is growing on me.
A Little Family Exercise
Track and Field
The town of Hillsboro has Track and Field events for kids every Wednesday during the summer, so we decided we would go check it out last week. The kids had no idea what track and field was, let alone races, but they had a blast. Every kid got a ribbon for each event they competed in, so we came home with a ton of ribbons because they wanted to do them all.

Here is Savannah doing the long jump. She had a lot of fun, but got a little too competitive and would get frustrated that she wouldn't win. But in the end she just said that she loved it and wanted to come here again.
Jonah is the one on the far left lane going over the hurdle. When he saw the hurdles for the 11 year olds he cried and said he couldn't do it, but then when he saw the hurdles for the 5 year olds he was so excited and did great!
Jacob doing the 200 yard dash, which was a little too far. He came in last by about one minute. :) But he did much better in the 50 yard dash.

Summer Vacation
The following two pages are basically a journal of our one month adventures so far this summer.
June 18th -23rd
Heading Out On Our One Month Vacation:
Mom flew up to Portland to spend some time with our family before helping me drive to Utah. We had a lot of fun just being together and shopping. I really need you to just move up here mom.
Driving to Utah
On the 2oth we drove all day to get to Utah. As we pulled out of our neighborhood Jonah asked when we would be there and continued to complain for the next 12 hours. At around hour 13 in the car Jonah looked at me and said "Mom, this is the best day of my life." I asked why and he said "Because it is summer (which means sunny) and because we are going to Utah." I sure love this kid. It took us about 14 1/2 hours, but we made it. Thank you mom.
On the 21st and 22nd we saw family, and recovered so that we could get ready to head to Lake Powell.
Lunch with the Logan Girls
On the 23rd I met my friends from Logan for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Michelle was in town from Wisconsin, and Stacie, Katie and Sam all drove down to meet us so we could catch up. It was a quick 2 hours but so much fun. I miss hanging out with you guys and wish I had time to get up to Logan to be with your families, but when you read my entries for the next 4 weeks you will see I didn't have much time to breath. I wish so bad I could run in the 1/2 marathon with you Katie and Sam, so you better do it for me. And Stacie tell little Chloe and Addie we miss them so much. Now it's time for a girls trip away from everything else, hopefully in our lifetime this will happen. :)

Lake Powell

Dad and Mom took the family to Lake Powell for a wonderful week of fun and play. It was Abby, Pappy, Rhett, Angie, Mal, Kenz, Bo, Taylor, Savannah, Jonah and Myself.
Savannah was up at about 6:30am each morning and would head straight to the water for play, where she remained until bed time each night.
This is Dad on the wake board and I was actually able to get up on the ski after 7 years.

We hiked to Rainbow bridge one day. The kids were hot and tired but loved it. They were real troopers. Jonah and Bo had fun playing during the week and could Rhett be any bigger? I guess we have something to work on eh Dustin? :)

Just some fun pictures from our vacation:
And a huge huge Thank You to Stacy, Camie, Jen and Lindsay for watching Jacob this week so I could really play with Savannah and Jonah. I owe you guys big time!

Recovery, decorating and Haircut
Recovering from Lake Powell, doing Lake Powell laundry, getting Mom's house ready for the 4th of July and getting a new haircut.
My parents just had their house remodeled. I can't believe it is the same house I grew up in. It is beautiful. The doors themselves are artwork and I would kill to have their bathrooms. I am so happy for you guys, now just enjoy it. I can't believe I don't have pictures of your remodel, but it really is amazing!
As far as the haircut goes - I needed a change so I copied my sister Stacy :) Thanks for letting me do it Stacy! And thanks for watching the kids again Mom.

Camping with Julie at Payson Lakes

Aunt Julie planned a "Real" camp out for the kids, Pappy and I. We went up to Payson Lakes, where Dustin and I were engaged, and I had not been back since. It was beautiful. The weather was perfect and she brought enough food for a week. We went fishing with Pappy, where he bought Jonah is first fishing pole. He had been talking with Pappy about fishing for about one month before we got to Utah, so he was so excited to do this. Then we ate yummy hotdogs and hamburgers, mades smores and told ghost stories at the campfire before heading to bed.
As a kid Julie used to take me, Rhett and Lindsay on all sorts of campouts and adventures, and she is now doing the same with my kids. We all just love her and have so much fun when we are with her. She has done so much for our family and she has us doing all sorts of new stuff. We love you Julie and had such a great time in the mountains. Thank you!

Fourth of July BBQ

We had our annual Fourth of July BBQ at Abby and Pappy's house. It was fun to catch up with all of our aunt, uncles and cousins. Everyone just changes so much and we don't see them nearly enough.

Fireworks
That night we watched fireworks in the cult-a-sac with Lindsay, Jess, Jessie, Kalob, Mom, Dad, Porter, and Julie. We could hear the Hannah Montana Concert at the Stadium and that was good enough for us. Plus Savannah is officially pro at hula hooping and she did a firework show for us and anyone that would come visit. (Really, it is amazing what she can do with the hoop. On her knees, running, jumping, twirling, I have never seen anything like it from a 7 year old.

Lunch with Highschool friends:
So today Whitni arranged for some of our highschool friends to get together for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. It was so fun to see them. It had been a couple of years or more, and it was so fun to catch up on the good and difficult times we had faced over the years. We are all still alive, so that is a good sign. Brenna, Celine, Katie and Whitni thanks so much for a fun fun lunch. Can't wait to do it again!
Sorry Mom and Dad:
While I was at lunch with my friends, my parents had a wonderful experience with my kids. My mom was calling for Jonah for about 10 minutes when he finially came in from the garage screaming that his throat was burning. He had white stuff all around his face, and they couldn't get him to stop screaming to tell them what had happened. My parents were ready to head to the hospital because they didn't know what was wrong. If you know Jonah, you get the same cry for a toy taken away as you do for a leg getting cut off. Anyway my parents were in tears and incredibly scared. Finally Jonah said "powder." They asked him where and then my dad saw a box of tide around the corner. Jonah was fine, he just wanted to smell the "flower" smell and got a little in his lungs. The powder got on his face because he was a little to close when smelling the nice smell. Sometimes we could just strangle Jonah, but it would just be easier if he would just explain before totally freaking out.

Nile's Baptism:
Later in the day Savannah and I had the opportunity to go to Nile's Baptism. He is just so cute and it was a really neat experience. Niles we are so proud of you and so happy you invited us to come!

Dinner with Nana and Papa at Sundance

So Nana and Papa had everyone up to the house for a yummy Sunday dinner. Corey, Michelle, Colby and Annie, Grandma and Grandpa, and ourselves were able to make it. Corey made all the kids some awsome paper airplanes to fly around the house and to drive Nana and Papa crazy with. The kids also love playing in the hammach at the side of the house. I managed to get one picture of the kids, but they couldn't hold still long enough. The story of my life. Thanks for dinner and time with the kids Nana and Papa!

Seven Peaks

If anyone has talked to Jonah the past year, you have heard him talk about Seven Peaks. He tells complete strangers about it and it is a conversation in our home at least 4 days a week. This was definitely a stop we had to make while in Utah. We even had to put off going to St. George one day to make it happen. Well it was worth it and the kids had a blast! I was able to be with Savannah and Jonah most of the time doing rides because my mom kept Jacob. Thank you! Jonah loved most of the small slides and tube slides, while Savannah went on that straight down ones. I was fine missing that one.
(We did this outing with Stacy and her kids and Jen and her kids. Good times!)
Lunch for Michelle

Earlier in the day the Cochran girls (Sue Ann, Camie, Nina, Michelle and myself) got together to have lunch at Sundance, for Michelle and her soon to arrive baby girl Olivia. Have to say I love that name Michelle. We also did a little dessert for Sue's birthday. I somehow managed to get the birthday picture but forgot the Shower picture. That is so me.

Heading to Cali
We (Me and the kids, Stacy and her kids-minus Murphy, Lindsay and Jessi, and Mom) were now off to another adventure. St. George for two days of good heat and lots of pool time. The kids swam almost all day each day. Then we would go out to dinner, which I must say my my shrimp tacos were not even close to par and I was really sad. We also saw Kung Fu Panda, and the only thing Jonah came out with was a new word for his privates ("Oh my tenders"). Just what I needed.

The Happiest Place On Earth

I had to remind a couple of cranky people at Disneyland of this. Seriously I did. Anyway we had such a great time. We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn, right next to the park. It was such a cute Inn with a great pool and so close. We did the two day hopper thing and had oh so much fun. The kids loved the rides and seeing the characters.

Savannah's favorite things were seeing the princesses (which took longer than any ride, but she will tell you it was worth it), the Toon Town roller coaster and California Screamer (so scary, but she is our dare devil). She said there wasn't anything she didn't like.

Jonah's favorite ride was the River raft ride in California Adventure. He got soaked and couldn't get enough of it. Go figure, he hates water on his eyes, but loved this. He also like Soaring California, which was quite cool and the Matterhorn and Space Mountain. He didn't like Thunder Mountian, Splash Mountain and the Toon Town roller coaster. Oh ya and he said "The princesses are hot!" When I laughed he said "That means cute right?"

Jacob loved the Winnie the Pooh ride (so we did this 3 times), the Nemo ride, Autotopia and seeing Micky's house. He didn't like the fast rides so much or the Haunted House, but he didn't cry he was just quiet.
Dustin and I just had fun being with everyone having fun and eating lots of ice cream. Soaring California was probably our favorite though.
(Rhett, Angie, Mal, Kenz, Bo, Steve and Murphy joined the group staying at Disneyland.)

Can't We Just Live Here?

This was Jonah's comment as we spent 7 days in Laguna Beach.
My Dad and Mom took all of our family on this wonderful vacation. We had such a blast having the whole family together, not having to worry about reality. Staying right on the beach is the greatest! We ran, played tennis, had smashball tournaments, dug great holes in the sand, made wonderful castles, read books, swam in the pool, boogie boarded, played card and dice games, watched movies, ate lots of treats, had wonderful dinners, and just laughed a lot. You couldn't ask for a better vacation to bring a family together. Thanks so much Mom and Dad!
Our family enjoying the sunset before our walk to get ice cream.
Jacob loved getting his own cone and sharing Dad's too!
Jonah and Jacob preferred the simulated surfing ride by Pappy on the beach rather than the real thing in the ocean.
Jonah finally would get all the way under the water by the time we left. (It only took 5 days at lake powell, 1 day at 7 peaks, 2 days at the Disney pool, and 6 days in Laguna :)) He is now becoming our little fish.
Jonah, Savannah and Kate at the Hole in the Rock.
Rhett, Angie, Lindsay and Jess at the hotel. Maybe one day I will get a picture of everyone. Someone send me a copy of the family picture or die! :)
(Everyone in the whole family was in Laguna Beach, Yea!)
July 19th and 20th
Our really long 2 day drive home. We did get to stay in the town of Ashland/Medford Oregon and go swimming at the motel. I could live in Ashland- I just loved it!
