Feast and Festival

We just got back from the yearly Lenox Elementary Feast and Festival. They had Costa Vida cater it for a second year in a row and we gave all of the profits to the school. It was a great turn out and the kids had a blast. They had a first aid station, as you can see Savannah has a pretend broken arm. They had lots of games and activities, where the kids cashed in tickets for prizes, won candy and Savannah actually won a fish (Goldie). Here is a picture of the kids with their prizes: A mask, flashlight necklaces, whoopee cushions, googly eyes and a plastic shark. They did well. Savannah is sad in the picture because she "broke her arm." Wouldn't you be sad?

Safe, Respectful, and Responsible

Today at a school assembly Savannah was given a P.B.S. recognition award for being safe, respectful and responsible. When she saw Dustin and I in the auditorium she thought it was so neat that we were at her school. She had no idea why we were there. So when they started giving awards she told us to all cross our fingers for her. She crossed hers tighter than I had ever seen before, so it must have worked. What a cutie! Here she is with her award. Congrats Savannah!

Roloff Farms: Graduation Party

Today Teacher Amy invited both of her preschool classes to her house for a end of school year celebration. The kids had a ball playing in the tree house, on the pirate ship, in the western town (especially the tunnels underneath the town), on the tire swing, on the playground and in the fields. We were the last to leave because I couldn't get the boys to go, which was a little embarrassing because they had there camera crew there. Anyway we had a great time and wanted to share a few pictures.

Preschool Graduation - May 20th 2008
Jonah had such a good time at Mustard Seed Preschool (A little Christian preschool by our home). His teachers were great and he always wanted to stay and help his teachers clean up the room. He never offers this at home. What gives? Anyway these are pictures of his graduation night where he managed to play with his tassel on his cap the whole night. Songs, poems, thoughts? Nope, just playing with the tassel and bugging a kid next to him during the program. This is our Jonah and we love him. We know he learned a lot and knew the program but that tassel was just too much fun.

ALL BETTER
After 5 days of throwing up and 1 day of slow recovery, Jacob is finially better. In fact he is begging for bran flakes and milk. Go figure. Brownies sound better to me.

Time With Dad

So after Jonah's birthday party, Dustin and Jonah headed out to Tillimook for the annual Father and Son's Camp Out. They first headed to the Cheese Factory. Jonah loves this place because he gets to see "How It's Made." (One of his favorite shows on TV). They watched the factory, smashed some pennies in the machine, and ate dinner.

Then off to the campground where Mom bought him this whistle to wear at all times in case he got lost or in trouble. Thanks for having it on him Dad.

While he loved the whole camping thing (smores, fire, sleeping in a tent), his favorite aspect was throwing rocks into the river, and of course being with his Dad. He told Dustin "I love you Dad" too many times to possibly count on this outing. What a great kid.

Dustin was awesome to spend this time with Jonah alone. He said it was just great. He loved and needed the one on one time with his son, not having to worry about anything else. Sometimes it's hard to find extra time when you are trying to run a restaurant (another story).

On Saturday, Jonah's official Birthday, Dustin took Jonah to the Air Museum. Jonah thought this was so cool and Dustin agreed. They both love planes and Savannah and I were glad they could do it without us.

Once they were back home Jonah fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours before putting in his one request of the day. Slip and Slide with the whole family. We had such a fun time, and yes I deleted any video with me on the slide in a swimsuit. :)

Jonah's Birthday Party

He wanted to have a "Hot Wheels Fiesta," but we opted for Hot Wheels with a pinata (and of course Savannah had to say it wasn't a Hot Wheels pinata but a Batman one). A car is a car right?

Natalie, Lily, Savannah, Jonah, Alex, Bailey and Camille all had a great time.
Jonah loved all of his presents - Cars, Lego's, games, books, a disk launcher from friends, and the lovely basketball attire he is wearing he picked out. I tried for khaki shorts and a t-shirt, but he loves easy to pull on shorts and tanks, man I am nice for letting him have it.
The final guest invited was Jacob, who is now on day five of throwing up. Every time I leave him for a moment he is laying on the hardwood floors moaning. I even found him asleep on the floor and had to put him in his bed. I'm not sure why he isn't liking the couch? Poor guy.

The Hula Hoop
Savannah got a new hula hoop from Abby. She had only been using it for about 10 minutes when we took this video. She said she thinks one day she could be the best in the world. I agree.

Mother's Day

About one week ago Savannah was talking to Dustin about what to get me for Mother's Day. She told him "Well you know Mom loves looking at pictures of dogs (I'm still a little confused on this, but so cute.), I thought I could make a picture frame and give her a picture of a dog." She gave Dustin a shopping list for craft items and together they were all able to surprise me with some wonderful gifts. Savannah made me a 3D card along with the frame, Jonah made me some candy cane pipe cleaners and Jacob colored on their pictures. It was great!

Savannah also made a card at church that answers questions so I have them below. So cute.

I sure love my kids and feel so blessed to be a Mom. Thanks Dustin for the yummy Salmon, potatoes, and Strawberry Shortcake and for taking care of me all day today. I love you Mom and Sue, and I hope you had a truly wonderful Mother's Day.

Savannah's Cheer Class - May 2, 2008

Savannah has been wanting to take a cheerleading class forever, so when we got a flyer from the Liberty High School Cheerleaders I let her take the class. It was only 1 hour but it was cute. I think she did such a good job, but she was sad on the car ride home because she forgot some of the dance, and Jonah kept telling her how bad she did. After lecturing Jonah and everyone telling her how good she did, she was really happy. She now wants to sign up for the mini cheer classes they have at the gymnastics center. I guess we will have to do it when we get back from Utah this summer. (Just a note, Savannah loves Hannah Montanna!)

Field Trip - The Children's Museum

Jonah's class went to The Portland Children's Museum for a field trip. He love the children's museum and it was even more fun than normal because he had one of his best friends with him on the adventure, Bailey. Bailey lives one street over from us and is also in Jonah's class. They always have such a good time together. Well until they decide who sits where in the car :), thankfully Nancy (Bailey's mom) had some cookies with her to quickly settle the problem.

Jonah's Art Show - April 17, 2008

Jonah had his preschool art show a few weeks ago. (And yes I am catching up on my last month worth of blogging). Nana and Papa were in town to join us and we had a wonderful night, mostly because Papa kept Jacob entertained outside on the playground while we enjoyed mingling at the open house. Thanks Papa. Jonah had created some wonderful

art projects, and yes Jonah's preschool teacher is Teacher Amy on Little People Big World. She is great with Jonah and we really appreciate her. And I must say that she had the cutest dress on that night.

Family Birthday Party

Back in April Jonah came out of Primary so excited. He had his birthday stickers and birthday pencil and was so happy that it was his Birthday. Well it actually wasn't, but he was so excited that it was. I told him that his birthday was May 17th but that it was April, and he said "Ya it's my birthday, May seventeen April." Well we couldn't break his heart, so we had a family birthday party so the other kids wouldn't feel sad either. We made a cake, everyone was sung to individually, we each got to blow out our candles. It was a fun night.

So here is the recipe for Gak. Hope you all enjoy and thank you Michelle.

Solution A:

1 1/2 cups warm water

2 cups Elmers White Glue (must be Elmers)

Food Coloring

Mix together until completely dissolved

Solution B:

4 teaspoons Borax (find at grocery store in the cleaning/laundry supplies)

1 1/3 cups warm water

Mix together until completely dissolved

Pour Solution A into Solution B.

DO NOT MIX!

Lift Gak out and knead into shape. Enjoy!

GAK

Back in March I got a recipe for Gak that my sister-in-law Michelle gave me. She said it entertained her kids for hours. I was a little skeptical, especially since Jonah has issues with getting his hands dirty, sticky or anything, but it has been rainy here for so long that the kids needed something different to do. So we gave it a try. No kidding they played for 3 hours straight, and then wanted to play with it again that night. Thank you Michelle!

EASTER

OK so I am over a month late in posting any Easter pictures, but better late than never. Right?

So here are the kids coloring their eggs. They had a blast doing this, as long as no one tried to take the orange dye from Jacob. That was his and only his!
This is Easter morning with the kids on their big hunt! Not really so big, but the day before we went to Alpenrose Dairy for the locals Easter Egg Hunt that really was big. And if you were wondering if we ever get pictures of our kids looking at the camera together, think again. It just doesn't happen in our house.
